Transforming Gamma St with Contemporary Design
Gamma St undertook an extensive alteration to the existing internal spaces including the bathrooms, kitchen, living areas and passages.
Project Goals
The client wanted to create a more practical modern design to be reflected through the internal spaces. Being an older villa, we confined to the restraints of the existing structure. The hall passage ceiling was elevated and three skylights installed to provide a sense of space and light to stream in on the contrasting light and dark finishes.
Initial Consultation and Planning
Initial consultation began in 2021 to understand our clients’ needs and preferences. We worked closely with them to create a design plan that balanced modern functionality with the existing villa’s charm.
Innovative Design Solutions
Use of Space: By elevating the hallway passage and living room ceiling with skylights, and working with the existing roof structure, we were able to create an increased sense of space.
Contrasting Finishings: The villa’s existing charm was retained through the original timber floors and complimented by the black and white finishings.
The Final Result
The Gamma St project while retaining the classic charm of a villa, resulted in a contemporary, functional layout that aligned with the clients vision.
